North Carolina Property Mappers Association
The Plat Review Officer workshop is being presented by Rex Minneman from the NC Land Records Management Program. The workshop will review the role of the county Review Officer, as per GS 47-30.2. A formal presentation will focus on the duties and responsibilities of the Review Officer as well as on problems and unique situations that a Review Officer might encounter. Workshop participants will be encouraged to ask questions and to share their experiences and problems as Review Officers. The workshop is geared toward current or potential Plat Review Officers from whatever department holds that responsibility within the county and for staff within the planning departments and county Register of Deeds. The workshop may also be relevant to those municipal, state, or federal employees who may have dealings with plats being recorded in various county registers of deeds to help them navigate and understand what requirements must be met for plats to be recorded. Please share the information about this workshop with the personnel in your county for whom it may be beneficial.
"Everything you ever wanted to know About orthos, but were afraid to ask" is being presented by guest speakers from NCASPRS, the North Carolina Chapter of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing with assistance from Rex Minneman of the NCLRMP as above. The session will focus on the production and acquisition of digital orthophotos. Speakers will present an overview of the production process used for making orthophotos – from pre-flight activities to computer development of the finished orthophoto product. Rex will discuss the new updates to the orthophotos mapping standards that are used by counties for their orthophoto projects. Also discussed will be GS 143-64.31 which requires that local governments use “qualifications based selection” (QBS) for the selection of photogrammetry firms which make their orthophotos; discussion will also address how local governments may exempt themselves from the requirements of GS 143-64.31. This workshop is a must for any county looking to acquire new orthophotography if you haven't been through the process before, or if it has been a while and could use a refresher course.
Participants may elect to participate in one workshop alone or attend both. Each workshop participant will be credited with 4 hours of continuing education credit for each workshop they attend. (Credit will not be given for attending the same workshop at multiple locations.) This credit is good for both NCPMA and NC Certified Property Mapper certifications. Credit for other certification programs is not guaranteed, and you are advised to contact the administrators of other programs to determine whether they will accept these education credits for their respective programs.
